1   Link   Digital Anatomist
So far, this contains 3D reconstructions of the brain, the heart and the knee.
2   Link   e-Medicine
This site is like an advanced version of the 'GP Notebook' site and contains more detailed but harder-to-read articles on many topics. Articles are written in the style of scientific papers and are usually accompanied by lists of literature references, and are hence useful for 'reference use' when writing essays or presentations as they contain lots of facts regarding each condition, including definitions, aetiologies, clinical features, management, etc.
3   Link   GP Notebook
A surpsingly useful site that has simple and brief explanations for almost everything. Best used almost as a medical dictionary, for reading quick summaries of topics.
4   Link   Gray's Anatomy
The gold-standard of anatomy texts (not the TV series), now online.
5   Link   Harvard Whole Brain Atlas
By Harvard. Includes images of both normal brain and various pathological conditions, such as strokes, tumours, degenerative disease and inflammatory diseases.
6   Link   Merck Manual
Some say that this is most widely used medical textbook in the world. Despite this claim, we have yet to see any students in the UK actually using it. That might have something to do with the fact that it is as big as a small house and can therefore be slightly intimidating at first. Fear not though, for it is online and searchable in it's entirity. Until the updated 2006 edition is up, the previous version is currently available on the site. It may be big, but it is very very clever.
7   Link   Podmedics
An excellent collection of podcasts for medical students. Highly recommended. We are in the process of collaborating with podmedics to write a few podcasts so check back soon! Our first two podcasts (on 'Heart Sounds' and 'Heart Murmurs') can be found in the 'Podcasts and Videos' section (click on the link in the menu on the left of this page).
8   Link   WebPath
Developed by a Pathologist at the University of Utah, this is an enormous collection of pathology images and diagrams, with clear and relevant explanations. A very useful resource for pathology exams, presentations and the USMLE Step 1 exam.
