The Oxford Handbook series is undoubtedly one of the finest amongst the medical textbooks. With clear and concise explanations, in terms of quality, this book ranks alongside the incredibly popular Oxford Handbook of Clinical Medicine. It's (almost) pocket-sized, and is therefore ideal for both, carrying on the wards during your various clinical specialties, and for quick reading to get to grips with the basics of a variety of specialties.

Another useful book in the Oxford Handbook series. This one is invaluable for those General Practice placements as it provides an excellent overview of the broad range of conditions that are encountered in this setting. Due to obvious differences in setting, the approach to managing these conditions is different in primary care, compared with a hospital environment. Another 'read as you go along' type of book, that you can flick through as you see patients with different complaints.
