General Revision textbooks

Medical/Surgical Finals: Passing the clinical

Combining revision notes and other key facts (including tips on how to perform examinations), these two books are from the exam-friendly Pastest collection. Designed with the same goals in mind as a certain superbly awesome website, these are useful little books to flick through towards the later stages of your revision. Very popular amongst students, primarily as they don't take very long to read through, these books are also great because they cut out any needless waffle and just stick to the essentials - just what you need when you are running short of time.

Pass Finals: A companion to Kumar & Clarke

The verdict on this seems to be that it can be a useful adjunct to your revision, but other students have warned that it is probably should not be your sole revision aid. Make sure that you keep the real Kumar and Clarke on standby.

Surgical Talk: Surgery for Finals

Easy to read, lots of useful tips for surgical exams and very clear explanations throughout - this book is definitely a favourite with students. Although images are limited, their absence does not seem to reduce the popularity of this revision aid. If you missed out on a few of those surgical lectures and are consequently struggling to grasp a few concepts, this book will be the revision tutorial to make things all make sense. Make sure you read through this at some stage before your surgical exams, to ensure that you have all the right surgical chat.

Question textbooks

EMQs (Extended Matching Questions) for Finals

If your course is one that is keen on EMQs, then this book is an ideal way to both, consolidate your revision, and to familiarise yourself with the format of questions that you will find in the real thing. The spread of the content seems to be well balanced, with generally positive reports from readers of this book.
