Modernising Medical Careers
What is MMC all about?
Call it what you like - total shambles or valuable asset to training, MMC is the new face of postgraduate medical training in the UK, and it is here to stay. Essentially, it is a replacement of the previous 1-year Pre-Registration House Officer (PRHO) posts with a 2-year 'foundation programme'. Because, of course, 'Foundation Year 1 Trainee' sounds more professional than 'House Physician'...
Joking aside, our aim is to provide you with unbiased information about the new careers system; we'll put up some more information on MMC soon to help you make up your own mind. In the meantime, here are a few links to get things started:
Anti-MMC
There are a large number of disgruntled students/doctors who were...let's just say 'less than satisfied' by the implementation of the new Foundation Year posts and the bizaare new online applications process. If like them, you feel that your 5/6years of hard work and passing of many tough exams at medical school are slightly more important than being able to describe how well you work in a team in 75-words-or-less, then join these guys and sign their petition to air your views on the matter:

Pro-MMC
From talking to existing trainees and reading some fairly high-profile media articles, you may have got the impression that the concept of MMC is not well liked. This is not the case. There do exist a group of people that strongly support it. These are the people that made it, of course. To keep things fair, let's give them their say. Here's the official MMC website:
